Volunteering with the WPCC - Recruitment Event, Feb 14th

Are you interesting in volunteering some time to support the participation work of the WPCC?

Parent carer participation is when parents and professionals work together, recognising each other's expert knowledge, to design, develop and improve services for disabled children in the local area. The way parent carers work with professionals is by forming groups called parent carer forums. Forums are keen to hear from as many parent carers as possible and with approximately 2,500 registered parent carers, the WPCC is one of the largest parent carer forums in the country (average forum size is 400 registered parent carers).

As a parent carer forum, the WPCC belongs to the National Network of Parent Carer Forums (NNPCF). The NNPCF ensures that local parent carer forums are aware of national developments and promotes opportunities for the voice of parent carers to influence at a national level. By working with the NNPCF, parent carer forums are able to work together and work closely with the Department for Education, the Department of Health, and other partner organisations to improve outcomes for children and young people with disabilities or additional needs and their families at a national level.

The WPCC is looking to recruit some new volunteer parent representatives to take a lead in the following areas:-

  • Early Years/ Best Start in Life
  • Health
  • ASD
  • Post 16/Transition to Adulthood
  • Engagement/Promotion of the WPCC

If you interested in finding out more about volunteering for one of these roles, what would be expected of you and what the WPCC can do to support you, we invite you to join us for our Volunteer Recruitment session on Thursday 14th February 2019, at Cumberwell Park, Bradford-on-Avon from 10am to 2pm. The day will include an opportunity to learn more about Team Lead roles, induction and support, and there will be activities to participate in.

The WPCC will pay your travel and childcare expenses incurred by attending this session, and we will provide lunch and refreshments. There will be no expectation on you to commit to volunteering if you decide it is not for you after attending the session.

If you are interested in joining us on 14th February, please let us know by completing the [BOOKING FORM]. Bookings for this event will close at 5pm on Monday 4th February 2019.
