COVID-19: Children and Young People’s Mental Health – Government Guidance

On 21st April 2020, the Government published new guidance for parents and carers on supporting children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The guidance has links to support and advice, and is broken into sections which include:-


  • Looking after your own mental health
  • Helping children and young people cope with stress
  • Children and young people who are accessing mental health services
  • Eating disorders
  • Children and young people with learning disabilities (which includes updated government advice about when it might be acceptable for children and young people to exercise in an open space more than once per day)
  • Autistic children and young people (which includes updated government advice about when it might be acceptable for children and young people to exercise in an open space more than once per day)
  • Children or young people with physical health issues
  • Children and young people who care for others
  • Bullying
  • Experiencing grief or bereavement
  • For support as a parent or carer
  • Helplines and websites for your child and or young person
