Carers’ Week 2021 – Would You Like £50 to Support Your Wellness? Last few days to apply!

The Wiltshire Parent Carer Council (WPCC) successfully applied for a South West NHSE/I Learning Disability & Autism Programme Transformation Grant at the end of 2019. The total sum awarded was £1,000 on the condition it would be used to affect change for carers of people with Learning Disability or Autism or those who have complex and challenging needs. The grant application described that the £1,000 would provide 20 eligible parent carers with an individual payment of up to £50 towards the cost of meeting a parent carer identified wellbeing/wellness need, (e.g., up to £50 towards the cost of a gym session, yoga session, spa treatment, one-off domestic help, a course/group (e.g., mindfulness course or art therapy course).

The COVID pandemic restrictions have prevented the WPCC from offering this fund to parent carers. From 17th May 2021, COVID restrictions began to ease, making it easier for parent carers to begin to access some wellness/wellbeing opportunities. UK Carers’ Week 2021 runs Monday 7th June 2021 to Sunday 13th June 2021 and the WPCC has decided to embrace the easing of COVID restrictions and Carers’ Week by opening its Wellness/Wellbeing Fund for application.

Eligibility
• Grants are only available to parent carers registered with the WPCC, living in Wiltshire (excluding Swindon) and be a parent carer of a child or young person aged 0 to 25.
• The grant can only be used to contribute towards the cost of meeting a parent carer identified wellbeing/wellness need.
• Only one application/entry into the grant draw per parent carer will be accepted.

Once the application window has closed, applications will be checked to make sure they meet eligibility.
