Carer Support Wiltshire – Devizes & Chippenham Parent Carer Groups

8th Sept 2017

We have recently been notified that Carer Support Wiltshire have taken the decision to temporarily close the Devizes and Chippenham parent carer groups.

Tom Blowers, Support Services Team Lead advised:

“Carer Support Wiltshire are committed to supporting Parent carers across the county. We have recognised that the Devizes and Chippenham parent carer groups have low attendance from group participants. Our aim over the next few months will be to work alongside parent carers and other parent carer organisations to develop enhanced groups in Devizes and Chippenham. The aim will be to ensure that more parent carers can access support and quality information/advice. We will be in touch with parent carers in these two areas over the coming weeks to consult on the new groups.

These groups will be in line with Wiltshire council’s definition of parent carers:

Parent Carer - A parent, or other adult with parental responsibility, who cares for a child or young person who requires more care and support than other children or young people of the same age.

Carer Support Wiltshire will carry on running our structured groups in both Devizes and Chippenham. Parent carers are welcome to attend these groups. The groups are run by our support workers who are skilled in supporting all carers with any issues they may be facing. Please look on our website or in our ‘What’s on guide,’ for details.”

We will update once we have further information.
