Have Your Say - Youth Club for Children & Young People with Autism in Devizes

Barnardo's runs fortnightly clubs for children and young people with autism in Devizes, Chippenham, Trowbridge and Salisbury. The ASC clubs in Devizes, Chippenham and Trowbridge are called Kingfisher Clubs; the ASC clubs in Salisbury are called Cygnets.

The clubs aim to give children and young people with an autistic spectrum condition, the opportunity to socialise with their peer group in an environment that meets their needs and is accepting of them as individuals. Maximum club size is 10. These clubs offer core activities such as arts and crafts, music and cookery. Other activities will be offered following consultation with the young people attending.

Barnardo’s is concerned that despite the WPCC regularly promoting the Kingfisher Clubs on its website, What’s On Calendar, Short Breaks Bulletins, Facebook page and in its weekly newsletters, and Barnardo’s sharing information with local schools and settings, there are only very small numbers attending the Devizes Kingfisher club. The club currently runs on a Monday evening from 5.00pm – 7.00pm, and Barnardo’s is wondering if Mondays are not a good day for families, or if there are other reasons for low interest in Devizes.

We would be really grateful if you could spare a few minutes to complete our [very short survey] to help the WPCC and Barnardo’s understand why there is low take-up at this club in Devizes.

This survey will close at 5pm on Sunday 23rd January 2022.
