WPCC’s Big Events to Return?

The WPCC is hoping to organise its first live event since November 2019!

In the past, WPCC’s big events have attracted in excess of 200 people, an excellent opportunity to network, find out about services, and meet other parent carers. These events are free to attend, the WPCC even pays parent carers’ travel and childcare expenses, and lunch and refreshments are provided free of charge for all attendees!!!

A popular feature of WPCC events is the ‘Market Place’. This is where services and providers across the local area showcase their offer, helping to bring Wiltshire’s Local Offer to life. In the past, the ‘Market Place’ has had between 40 and 50 providers represented across health, education, social care and other provision and is great way of finding out more about what is available.

Historically, these events took place at the Corn Exchange in Devizes from 10am to 2pm. Devizes is fairly central in the county, making it as fair as we could manage in terms of distances people had to travel to attend. The Corn Exchange is the only venue large enough in the area to be able to run events on this scale. Sadly, the Corn Exchange has a long-term booking which makes it impossible for the WPCC to use it as a venue for its big events any time soon. After much hunting for suitable alternative venues, the best alternative we have been able to find is the Civic Centre in Trowbridge.

Arrangements for WPCC’s next event are not yet confirmed, but we are looking at the possibility of early December 2021. To help us decide if we should go ahead with planning and organising an event in December, we need to know how people might feel about attending a large event in December. Obviously, we would be led by government guidance and any restrictions that might be in force between now and December, and we would do all we could to responsibly organise the event to reduce risk where we can. We also appreciate and respect that some people will be anxious about attending a large event.

To help us decide if we should go ahead with planning and organising an event in December, we would be extremely grateful if you could respond to this very [short survey] (3 questions maximum). This survey will close at 5pm on Sunday 19th September.

You can see details about previous WPCC events on the [WPCC website].

Thank you.
