Wiltshire Consultation on Proposed Changes to Funding for EHC Plans
|
Wiltshire Council is inviting families of children and young people with SEND to participate in an online information session as part of the consultation on the funding for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
The current EHCP funding system was introduced in 2016 and it has not been changed since. Wiltshire Council is therefore seeking feedback on how to better align funding with students’ needs, create a simpler and fairer funding process, and ensure that special schools and Resource Bases receive sufficient support.
The Council’s consultation is aimed at improving how funds are allocated to schools, proposes changes to how EHCP funding is decided and how needs are described, so that the LA can be confident that children and young people are receiving the support they need. This online information session is being offered to help parent carers understand the proposed funding scheme and give them an opportunity to ask questions.
The next online session is planned for Thursday 5th December 2024 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm and will provide an opportunity to discuss specific aspects of SEND support. A range of help is available for SEND children and young people and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) are just one type available. This session look to discuss proposed improvements to the funding process for EHCPs to ensure the system is fair, while increased investment is earmarked for this area.
The online information session takes place on Thursday 5th December 2024 from 6pm to 7pm. You will be able to join the online session here:- [SEND Online Meeting - 5 December].
Questions and points can also be sent in advance by emailing: communications@wiltshire.gov.uk.
