Cold Weather Payments for People in Receipt of Certain Benefits

You may get Cold Weather Payments if you’re getting certain benefits or Support for Mortgage Interest. If eligible, you’ll get a payment if the average temperature in your area is recorded as, or forecast to be, 0°C or below over 7 consecutive days. The payment amount is each 7 day period of very cold weather between 1st November and 31st March. The money will be paid into the same bank or building society account as your benefit payments and will not affect your other benefits.

You may get Cold Weather Payments if you are getting: -
• Pension Credit
• Income Support
• Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
• Universal Credit
• Support for Mortgage Interest

You do not need to apply. If you’re eligible to get a Cold Weather Payment, you’ll be paid it automatically.
