National Shortage of ADHD Medication

Many parent carers are likely to have seen reports about a shortage of some ADHD medications in the media, if they are not already directly affected. The WPCC is obviously concerned about what this means for families and we approached the National Network of Parent Carer Forums (NNPCF) about this. The NNPCF is an organisation that represents parent carer forums at a national level and has direct conversations and discussions with government by working in strategic partnership to improve services for families with SEND across England.

The WPCC is not the only parent carer forum to have highlighted the significant impact on families, and as a result, the NNPCF has written to the Secretary of State for Health & Social Care and the Secretary of State for Education to ask what steps the government is taking to not only address the shortage of the medications, but also ensure there is an expectation of providing additional levels of support, particularly within education, that children, young people, and their families need during this time of crisis.

You can see the letter from the NNPCF [HERE].
