Music Alive

Music Alive aims to improve access to music for disabled people, to initiate and develop creative music making with disabled and non-disabled people and to support disabled people to achieve more independent, fulfilled and integrated lives.

They are based in Highworth, Swindon and hold specially tailored music sessions for children and young people aged 2 to 25. These might be an individual session, a group of young people of similar ages, interests and abilities, or a family session. Friends and siblings of the disabled young people taking part are very welcome to come and join in. Participants have fun developing their creative skills and ability to express themselves and communicate through music. Sessions are usually from half an hour to an hour in length.

They also have a club called Beatz ‘r’ Us and this is available for young people aged 14+. This group meets regularly at the Highworth Community Centre, Highworth, Swindon, Wiltshire SN6 7PQ. The aim of the group is to develop specific skills in composition and performance using acoustic instruments and music technology. It’s challenging, rewarding and fun.

There are also Drum Circle sessions where people aged 9-99 years of all abilities are welcome to drum in a circle. Booking is not required but please feel free to contact Music Alive for more information if you would like to. Drums are available or bring your own. Drum Circles take place on most Saturdays from 1 – 2 pm at Highworth Community Centre. They are sometimes held at other venues throughout the year.
