NNPCF response to draft guidelines for speech and language therapists

Following the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) member consultation that took place last year, there are now draft guidelines for speech and language therapists on their roles and responsibilities under the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice – click here to view the draft guidelines.

The document is intended to apply to all speech and language therapists, who support children and young people within the process of statutory assessment of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in England.

The RCSLT requested further feedback from wider stakeholders, including other relevant professions, and organisations that represent children and young people with SEND and their parents/carers, in order to refine the draft document.

As part of this process, the National Network of Parent Carer Forums (NNPCF) was asked to respond. To take a look at the NNPCF's response, please click here.
