UPDATE: Free SEND Sex Education Workshops for Parent Carers – only a few spaces left

Towards the end of 2022, we asked parent carers for workshop suggestions for our information event. We received some great suggestions, with many people asking for a session on preparing for adulthood, which we managed to arrange for our last information event. The other suggestion that was made by a significant number of people was a workshop on Sex Education for parent carers of children and young people with SEND.

We have recently been fortunate enough in seizing the opportunity to apply for a small grant this is enabling us to run some free Sex Education workshops for Wiltshire parent carers. We have approached Kate Reynolds to run the sessions for us and we are delighted that she has agreed, Kate has run sessions for us in the past and they have always been very well received by people who attended.

Kate (MDS, PGDC, PGDHE, BSc (Hons) SA, RGN) is mother to two young people on the autism spectrum, one who had epilepsy and one who has learning/intellectual disabilities. She worked for the UK’s National Health Service for 18 years, largely in HIV and sexual health. Kate has written numerous articles and 14 books, most published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers about aspects of relationships, sexuality, female autism, smearing, menopause, autism and learning/intellectual disability. Kate runs workshops for parents and works closely with professionals, as a trainer, consultant and researcher. Kate speaks at conferences and briefed the All Party Parliamentary Group about sex education and disability. You can find out more about Kate by visiting her website: http://www.kateereynolds.com.
