Our Club
This club is run by South Wilts Mencap for 13 to 18 year olds and it gives them the chance to relax, laugh and let off some steam.
Supported by Wiltshire Council, Our Club runs forty weekly sessions through the year as well as laying on some special events in school holidays. The young people who attend get the chance to lead more connected and sociable lives. There is always a chance to hear about what everyone else has done through the week, highlight achievements and share news. This is a great chance for the members to develop their speaking and listening skills in a fun environment.
The Our Club team have built on the good work done for the Bridging Projects by lots of people over many years across Wiltshire. The young people engaged with Our Club are learning skills which will be useful to them in adult lives and help them to become active members of our community in the future. We think that this chance for them to have some time in a space that feels like their own is vital to their development.

Online performing arts sessions for ages 14-18 with a learning disability
About Blue Apple
Blue Apple Theatre was founded by Jane Jessop with Tommy Jessop in 2005 because many people with learning disabilities said they were isolated and lonely with no opportunity to take part in the performing arts.
Right from the beginning, the aim was to be ambitious, lift the ceiling of expectation and change the way the public see people with any form of learning disability.
Blue Apple is now recognised as one of the foremost theatre companies in the UK for people with a learning disability, performing and touring drama, dance, film and song locally, nationally and even internationally with partners in the Czech Republic, Poland and Italy.
Blue Apple changes lives by providing empowering, enriching opportunities, with a sense of purpose and belonging, where friendships are forged and people discover their skills and grow in confidence.
They run on Saturday mornings during term time for young people 14-18 who have a learning disability as they currently have capacity for a few more participants.
Who? For 14-18 year olds with a learning disability.
When? During term-time weekly on Saturdays 11am-12pm.
Where? Online via Zoom.
Cost? Taster sessions are free. Then £7 per session payable termly/half-termly in advance.
How to book? To book or ask questions please email groups@blueappletheatre.com or phone/text 07510 844480

Find Your Voice Singing and Social group
The health and wellbeing benefits of singing together as a group have been increasingly documented over the past few years.
Find your Voice is a weekly singing and social group for people with a range of conditions including (but not exclusively) Parkinson’s, Motor Neurone diseases, Multiple Sclerosis and stroke. Relatives and carers are also encouraged to join in.
We are delighted to announce that we are re-starting our face to face Find Your Voice singing group sessions in September.
It is taking place on Mondays at Hilperton Village Hall (BA14 7RN) at 1pm. There is the option of joining the session via zoom instead of attending in person.
Each session, our wonderful singing leader Frankie takes us through breathing and movement, voice and singing warm ups. Then we sing.
You don’t need to be able to sing. With the inclusion of fun exercises, the sessions can help to improve the strength of your voice and swallowing.
Please contact Louise Rendle for more details on 01380871800 or info@wsun.co.uk

Mixed Ability Rugby training sessions at Melksham RFC
Where: Melksham at RFC
When: Tuesdays 7-8pm
The sessions are weekly (term time) during the rugby season.
The sessions are for everyone, aged 16+.
Mixed Ability rugby is just like standard rugby, however those with disabilities can also participate and choose whether to play as a touch player, or try some contact at their own pace. During fixtures, we have touch rugby players and contact players on the same pitch together playing, our touch players wear a red scrum hat, which means when the ball is passed to them, the game turns into touch rugby.
There is no cost to the session, and we’d love to welcome more participants along.

While there are opportunities for young people with disabilities to access sport in school and through community projects, adults with disability or learning difficulties can sometimes find it more difficult as many of their day to day routines are kept the same each week, either at their day centres, or residential homes.
Fit club sessions are designed to encourage adults (age 17+) to participate in physical activity one evening a week. They also act as a social event where participants can meet different people and take part in sport in an enjoyable and friendly way.
Trowbridge Fit Club runs every Wednesday during school term at Trowbridge Sports Centre, Frome Road, Trowbridge, 5.15pm – 6.15pm
