Kensington Court is a purpose built block of ten two bedroomed apartments, centrally heated and with its own car park, situated in the South Shore area of Blackpool. The apartments are themed, four allowing wheelchair access, namely Planet Suite, Enchanted Forest, Seaside Dreams, and Music Box on the ground floor. The Music Box has a double bedroom with a double bed and a day bed. There is a large single bed in the second bedroom.
Bluebell Wood, Animal Kingdom, Builder’s Yard and Bunnies’ Burrow are on the first floor and The Wizard’s Wardrobe and The Penthouse Suite on the second floor. The Penthouse Suite is intended for older, special needs guests who still holiday with their parents.
The lounge has a T.V., video and DVD player. A limited number of books and videos are provided for entertainment. Each bathroom has a bath and an overbath shower, except The Music box which has a shower only – a shower chair is provided.
The master bedrooms each have a double bed with room for a cot or Z bed if required. One full set of bedding is provided for each bed. If more are required, it must be supplied by the guest, as no housekeeping service is available during the week.
Social workers, support groups, hospitals and hospices refer their patients to the Daisy Chain for the respite they all need, or parents can self refer directly to Daisy Chain. Where appropriate, they can also offer the use of one of their apartments to families who have lost a child and feel the need for a break, either alone or with other family members. The holidays run from Monday to Sunday, the only charge being a nominal application fee (£135 per week) and can be for one or two weeks.
